where educators come to learn from one another
I thought I would share some feedback I received from several 8th grade students this morning concerning their usage of the Amazon Kindle this past school year. It's wonderful to see students embracing this new form of reading! Here's what they had to say:
Mickey: "I read much faster using the Kindle and I basically just like it!" This has been the general consensus from students as well as faculty members using the Kindle.
Riley: "I like it because it's a different way to read a book."
Trevin: "I enjoy using the Kindle, but would definitely add an M-edge Elluminator to light up the screen for easier reading."
Rachel: "I love the dictionary feature! I no longer have to have a dictionary at my side to look up words I don't know. The 'percent read' feature is a motivator for me to keep reading. The ability to change to font size is a plus."
Kayla: "I like the size of the Kindle and how sturdy it is."
Many students remarked they would like to have their own Kindles. They are requesting them when their parents ask what type of 8th grade graduation gift they would prefer. I think that's an excellent choice - but of course, I'm a librarian and enthusiastic when it comes to reading!!
