where educators come to learn from one another
I recently purchased Nooks for my students. Before signing them out, I thought I should have a contract of sorts (you break it you replace it) and/or a e-reader Dos and Don'ts list. Does anyone have such things that I can use with my students? Have any of you used them? If so, what are your thoughts?
Also is there any advice you'd like to share with a first time e-reader teacher, something you wish you had thought of before use.
Thanks.

Pick a few you know and trust, maybe all from one teacher's class, and let them borrow them for a weekend and see what they think. Perhaps they can help you create the policies you need once they have used them and seen what they are all about...And you can start by using one of the forms under resources here on this site. They may not be exactly what you need but may be enough to get you started...
Good luck and please keep us posted.

Comment by E.B. Eubanks on March 21, 2012 at 8:24am I found online an AUP from Creekview High School Media Center for the B&N Nook Simple Touch. Sorry, I can't find the URL. However, at the bottom it says "This form adapted with permission from an original creation by school librarian Kathy Parker at http://marianslibrary.wordpress.com. I also found a "Nook Simple Touch Book Request Form 2012, The Unquiet Library" from the Unquiet Librarian's blog.
I am still reluctant to bring out our Nooks until I have more policies in place and a clear focus for use.

There are forms like you are wanting under the resources tab here on the site. Many other teachers and librarians have had your same thoughts about the contract and the dos and don'ts. They may not answer all of your questions, but will at least get you started.
Good luck!
