The Nook Checkout is still going strong. I just added new books. We have a combination of the main book used in each grade, classics, and popular series titles. I did an informal survey of students coming to the library to choose what books to add. Barnes and Noble did a few weeks of classics for free and I made sure to download them. We also have these series: Mortal Instruments, Gone, Percy Jackson, Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, Gallagher Girls, Vladimir Tod, Maximum Ride and some stand alone titles.
Here's the bag we use for checkout. It has the barcode and Nook # on it. On the back of the Nook we have the barcode and then again on the back of the cover. In the catalog, each book is listed.
I got the form I use from Kathy Parker and I just modified it to fit the library. I'll upload that. We number them and students get the Nook the next day after we've checked it over and re-charged.
I bought the books using a check that I requested from ExtraCurricular funds. I took the check to BN and they exchanged it for an E-Gift Card that I had them upload onto our account. I then bought the books at home. Each time you order a book, you get charged tax. So, I have to email BN the order numbers and then they reimburse me the tax. Hopefully they will fix that in the next update.
