Credit Cards
I had never purchased a store credit card in the past so I can't claim to be an expert. What worked for us was buying a green dot card from Wal Mart. It's a Visa card. You will need to put a minumum amount of money on the card, I think it's $20, I believe it then functions as a debit card. The card costs $3.00. There's a plethora of cards at the check out, but this is the one that our B & N manager suggested would work for us and so far it has. I have had to pay no fees and the only time money was deducted from the card was when I wasn't watching my gift card balance carefully enough. This is easy to do because of the taxes you are being charged at the time of purchase.

Please clarify. Is this a solution to buying books for school. If so, why would there be taxes added? I have Kindles and have wondered if buying a prepaid credit card instead of dealing with gift cards would work. What I don't understand is why you need both the gift cards and the credit card. Couldn't you put $200 or so on a card purchased at Wal-Mart and then use that to buy books?
