WhisperCast Changes Everything! Or does it?

I am sure that all you Kindle-philes were delighted to see that Amazon has responded to just about every objection educators have ever voiced about trying to manage multiple devices with its WhisperCast release.

In short, WhisperCast is a free management tool for schools and organizations who want to distribute content across multiple devices, and who want to exercise more control over the operation of those devices. You can get the details from Amazon right…

Conflicting Information regarding circulation of e-readers

I just returned from a web 2.0 reading conference and was told that it is a violation of the Kindle purchase agreement to circulate kindles to library patrons (this includes school libraries). The presenter was a professor from Simmons College who is supposed to be expert in the field..... Anyone want to weigh in on the veracity of this?

Active Reading: Using Kindle to Engage Learners

kindle

(original post from my blog www.middleschool101.com)

I've been a reader my whole life... I think it goes without saying that I love technology as well. I got my Kindle in early April of 2009. I was not one of those people who was afraid of the e-reader because it didn't "smell like a… Continue

Granted!

I was just awarded a $3600 grant to buy 12 kindles for our middle school. The grant requested 6 Kindles for library use and 6 for classroom use.

I requested that 12 teachers would be chosen to test the Kindle in… Continue

I just canceled my Kindle 2 order

When Amazon announced the availability of the Kindle 2 for international customers, including the Netherlands where I live, I was excited. Finally we too would get full access to the Kindle store via Whispernet. Like I wrote in this blog, I sold my BeBook and pre-ordered a Kindle 2.

But, the information that arrived afterwards cooled down my excitement and enthusiasm very rapidly. I… Continue

I sold my Bebook 1 pre-ordered a Kindle 2 international

When I bought my BeBook last March, it was my first eBook reader. Amazon didn't sell the DX yet and Kindles were available only in the US. I was happy with the BeBook even though it didn't have whispernet, notes, search. I did have folder though.

After the DX arrived I went through the trouble of ordering one through a company that offers a service where you can have Amazon ship it to their address in the US and they then ship it to you in the Netherlands (for a fee of… Continue
