The Kindle for PC/Mac/iPhone/Android Apps--why aren't they improving?
At a 1:1 school, all of our students can access the Kindle App on their Lenovo tablets. This is great for public domain texts. It is great for me to use as I teach by projecting the App onto the board so that we can do close readings of a passage. But, it is frozen in time. No updates, no changes, no improvements. It feels like the App is the red headed stepchild at Amazon.

Based on the success of our middle school Kindle program (each of our 8th grade students now have their own Kindle to use for their Literature class plus our 7th graders are using Kindles in their Literature class as well) I had wanted to see how we could use the Kindles in the lower grades.

Kindle Basics...for a beginner
I'm a school library media specialist for grades 4-12. Our high school principal wants to use about $3,000 to purchase Kindles for our high school library. It has to be a pretty quick process, since this is "extra" money that has to be spent before the beginning of the school year. I thought I would share some feedback I received from several 8th grade students this morning concerning their usage of the Amazon Kindle this past school year. It's wonderful to see students embracing this new form of reading! Here's what they had to say:
