Is it possible to use this forum to collectively compile a group of tools for use by students on a Kindle? I am thinking of research and developing as PDF files or mobi. files various reference charts and tools that would be useful for a variety of age groups.I found a number of math formulae through a search on About.com and there are also many variations of the Periodic Chart of the Elements as an example. Is there a public domain version of Roget's Thesaurus that we could convert using…See More

Kraig D. Pritts replied to Will DeLamater's discussion What features does an ereader need to work in schools?
"Could this happen in a workaround fashion for the time being through an Elmo device? In fact that could happen even withtout the SmartBoard. You can pull your clippings from the Kindle (at least on my DX) as a text file from the USB port connectin…"

Kraig D. Pritts replied to Will DeLamater's discussion What features does an ereader need to work in schools?
"Agreed, better support for PDFs (I have a DX so that is done on that machine) and TOOLS, TOOLS, TOOLS. The reader must become a one stop shop. Preloaded with browser links to tools with reader formatted web sites, loaded with an agenda type tool,…"

Kraig D. Pritts replied to Will DeLamater's discussion Should students be allowed to take a Kindle home to read?
"In my mind, absolutely. I use Kindle here as a generic term owning both a Reader and a Kindle. I am considering the impact of the purchase of low end readers and loading them with high quality public domain classics for our English classes as an…"

Hello. The answer to all of your questions is yes. I have a SONY Reader Touch and a Kindle DX. I am a personal user (right now focusing on the DX) and also evaluating the uses of ereaders in my school settings. I am a Superintendent of Schools in an 1,100 student district south of Syracuse, NY.
