Loaning material for patron with own device
We are just starting to plan for Kindles in our K-12 Library. So, I am a real newbie. What I am wondering is whether it is possible to loan ebooks to patrons with their own kindles or nooks or whatever. Is that a do-able thing? Or as libraries, must we just loan a device loaded with a particular book.

The library can loan books to patrons with their own devices but only within the confines of Adobe Digital Editions. That means that Nooks and Sonys can borrow books from a library; the iPad can participate through the Bluefire reader app. This is an expensive way to go. Most librarians here are loaning devices with books already loaded. It is the only way to do it with a Kindle. Hope this helps!

What accounts for the additional expense? Do the books automatically delete off the personal devices at the end of the lending perios as well?
