Hi Jennifer & all. We add our Kindles & Nooks to Destiny. I catalog the device first (including the serial #). I catalog each device individually - due to different authors/titles going on each device. In the copy portion of the record I add the price. For the call # I put something like JENKINS KINDLE 1. I also add a note that says what parts/pieces the device has. The schools then check them out through Destiny. I know one school has a liability form that must be signed. To track the authors & titles of the books, I then add a 700 tag (added author) and 740 tag (added title) for each author & title on that device. Most of our schools have Nooks & for the couple that have Kindles, I'm not sure how that arrangement works with Amazon. Debbie Martin
Comment by Jennifer Alevy on March 6, 2012 at 11:44pm Hi, I have a few management questions. My school is purchasing 60 Kindle Touch's. 1. How do you keep track of them? I was thinking about barcoding them in Destiny. 2. How do you keep track of the books you put on each? I was thinking of adding to the MARC description field the book titles on each unit. 3. How do you manage them from the Amazon end, do you put up to 6 Kindles on each account? I think organizing them in increments of 6 is the way to go. Any other advice, tips, etc. are welcome :-)
Thank you,
Jenn the Librarian
Comment by Elizabeth Roberts on February 9, 2011 at 11:06pm Interesting developments in Kindles. I just saw this annoncment about adding real page numbers to kindle books. There has always been a lot of debate about this so we will see where it goes from here: http://www.kindlepost.com/2011/02/early-preview-of-free-software-up...
