For Nook users, Barnes & Noble's in-store Book Fairs could be a good source of funding to add titles or even contribute to the cost of a device.  When I was an elementary librarian, my book fair nights would typically raise $250-$400 in BN gift cards (as a percentage of the evening's sales).
