Kindles in 3rd grade

We are planning to use Kindles in a 3rd grade classroom this year for independent reading and at home reading. At this point we have 12 Kindles. Glacier Peak Elementary, Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Brighton, CO

I work at two elementary schools and all but one teacher is excited to have his/her students reading on the Kindle. I presented my need for more Kindles at both PTO meetings and all but one parent was interested in students having the opportunity to read on the Kindle. One PTO purchased 6 Kindles for us to use, the other tabled the grant for a month because of one parent's suggestion to table it. I will return next week to ask again with letters from my students and parents of the students who are reading on the Kindle currently. I'm curious to why parents would object. Reading is reading and anything to engage children longer is a plus - I believe. However, my Kindle readers (third graders) continue to read traditional books as well - it isn't one or the other.
