eBook Educators Group

where educators come to learn from one another

Now that I have 20+ books loaded on our first Kindle for our elementary library, I realize that there needs to be a good way to organize the titles to be more helpful to our readers.  I can think of a few ways to do by using the "Collections" feature, but I'm curious to know what way you've found to work best.

We are restricting the use of Kindles, at least inially, to our 4th and 5th graders so all the books are chapter books at this point.

Thanks!

Susan

Please forgive my unforgivable spelling mistake of "arrangement" due my hasty typing and lack of proof-reading.  Lesson learned.
Susan, I think you are aware of the options as you mention. You can sort by most recent, author, title, and collections. Other than deleting titles you are not using from the device to free up space on the homescreen, or tucking books in collections folders, there are limited options for control. You might want to re-post this in the Kindle Users Group where people will be notified if they are following, or send a message within the group that everyone will see. Let us know what you decide is the best way to accomplish this goal!
You can organize your books on the device as the above poster suggested.  I have also found it helpful to have a binder with the cover and the back blurb from the books that I have loaded on eReaders.  Then the children can browse the books just like they do the other books in the classroom library. If they decide on a book in the binder, then they check out the eReader to read that paticular book.
